Encaustic allows for much creativity because elements such as found objects, collage, or photographs can be added, and other mediums such as graphite, oil paint, and ink can be utilized depending on the artist’s vision. In addition, wax layers can be scraped back or incised to view multiple layers below, allowing for exciting texture and dimensionality.
